the Yacht Club of Bethesda story

The nationally famous Yacht Club of Bethesda is now celebrating 157 engagements and/or marriages since we began our “imaginary cruises” for people over 30 in 1989.

It was dubbed the “Love Boat in Bethesda”, and the “Home of Tommy the Matchmaker” in national and local press coverage including ABC News, The Washington Post, USA Today, CNN Online, CBS Radio, PBS, and all of Washington’s local television stations.

While the publicity and in depth articles always concentrate on the singles aspect of the club, and of course, our famous cupid “Tommy the Matchmaker”, in reality the club is always 40 – 50% dating and/or married.
